Anglers must use the official entrances and on no account trespass on the adjoining lands. Unless a special reason exists, cars should be parked only in the car-parks so that the adjacent roads are not obstructed. Wading is permitted but care should be taken as it may be dangerous when the water is at certain levels. Stoneyford is one of the most popular Department fisheries, and is stocked at various times throughout the angling season. A low lying reservoir, feeding can be prolific with caddis fly. In early season fly fishing with lures and streamers is popular.

From Belfast to Stoneyford via the A501 Glen Road 13 km to Sales Corner turning right at B101 towards Dundrod for 1.2 km, then left at the signpost for Stoneyford. The reservoir is signposted on the left. Via the M1 leaving at the Moira roundabout by the A26 towards the airport. Turn left into Glenavy on the A26 going through the village and taking the B38 towards Belfast. For Stoneyford, fork right off the B38 at the ‘Y’ bridge 4.4 km out of Glenavy. The reservoir is on the right after passing Stoneyford village. From Belfast International Airport via the A26 towards Belfast to the Nutts Corner roundabout taking the B101 towards Lisburn through Dundrod. Leathemstown is on the right 2.4 km past Dundrod. The signpost for Stoneyford is 5.6 km past Dundrod.
