This attractive lough is stocked regularly and provides good sport.
On the south side, the bank shelves steeply and wading should not be attempted. Fishing stands have been erected on the west side. An anglers’ path is provided and anglers must use the only official entrance which is off the old Lisburn-Ballynahinch Road. Motorists should take care not to obstruct the road at this point or block farm entrances.
How to get there
From Ballynahinch take the A49 and B177 towards Hillsborough branching right 2 km out at the staggered crossroads. The entrance is 3.6 km on the left.
From Belfast take the M1. Turn off at the Lisburn/Saintfield intersection. Take the A49 towards Ballynahinch for 6.8 km to Baillies Mills. Turn left at the crossroads and right at the T-junction at the end of the road. The entrance is 2.4 km on the right.
