The canal stretch is readily accessible and is a popular coarse fishery. Pike, perch, roach, bream and eels are abundant. Car-parking is not permitted on the canal bank road at Movanagher and fishing is not allowed from the west bank between the canal and the river. Three car-parks have been provided at the canal bank and 43 stands are available for competitions making this an ideal venue for small angling competitions. The canal fishes well when high flow conditions exist on the river. Roach/ bream hybrids specimens can be caught. Pike up to 14 kg have been recorded.

How to get there


Movanagher - from Kilrea by the B64 signposted towards Ballymoney for 2.4 km over the Bann Bridge to McLaughlin’s corner. Here turn left and immediately left again and travel for 3.6 km to the approach road to Movanagher Fish Farm on the left.
