New Eel Regulations
DCAL have introduced new Regulations to implement. These Regulations have been introduced to implement the legislative requirements of the Eel Management Plans following approval by the European Commission on the 4th March 2010.
The Eel Fishing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010
These Regulations implement the cessation of eel fishing other than in the Lough Neagh and at named weirs on the lower River Bann catchment or unless specifically authorised for conservation purposes. These new Regulations are a recast of the Eel Fishing Regulations (NI) 1979.
The Eel Fishing (Licence Duties) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010
These Regulations amend the list of available licences to remove any references to eel fishing licences for Lough Erne. Licences for fyke netting have also been removed from the Schedule as these were only used for eel fishing outside of Lough Neagh.
